SIM Retail Distribution study estimates 2008 surf/skate retail sales over $7.22 billion in the US alone, at a population of 304 million. Multiply by the Chinese Population of 1.2 billion.
Chinese consumers have more faith in the quality and status of international brands. Retailers are becoming more sophisticated. The distribution channel grows every year. Number and quality of domestic brands is increasing, leaving less room for international brands.
There is currently less prejudice against older or newer unknown brands.
Middle class growth outside the traditionally economically strong Eastern provinces.
